Requires Farish Hall loco chassis and Farish GWR/SR tender chassis.
Locos were introduced from 1936 to replace the worn out moguls. Eighty engines were built all of which passed into BR service. When built the granges were fitted with the 3,500 gallon tenders (this type is included in the kit) although some were known to have hauled the bigger 4,000 gallon type (this model is available seperately kit reference A32). When built they had tapered buffers although later in their lives these were changed for the parallel type (both types are included in the kit).
These mixed traffic locos were used all opver the system, often pressed into passenger duties in peak periods. The class was withdrawn between 1960-1965.
The kit contains castings to make the loco and tender bodies together with handrail wire and etched name/number plates. To complete you need a Graham Farish Hall chassis which requires no modification and a Graham Farish GWR/SR tender chassis. |
