Chrysler began to move into the old Rootes empire in 1964, gaining complete control in 1973. In the US they sold trucks under the Dodge name and gradually the Dodge and Commer ranges in the UK were consolidated under the Dodge banner with the rationalisation complete by 1976. In 1978 Peugeot purchased Chryslers European business and they in turn were taken over by Renault in 1981. This led to a proliferation of badges on essentially the same model. This model portrays the Commando 100 first produced in 1973, it was modified in 1981 when it got a much bigger grille and became the Series II. It was phased out in 1986 to be replaced by Renault models.
